HFEL-For the betterment of humankind!
Human Factors and Ergonomics Lab (HFEL) at KAIST aims to develop novel human factors and ergonomics methods, techniques and models (especially experimental design, digital human modeling, sensing analytics, and data-driven modeling of human behavior and performance via ICT/AI/VR) to investigate human capabilities, limitations, and interactions among human and other elements of a system. By applying theory, principles, data and methods from science and engineering, our lab designs human-centered products/systems and assistive technologies to enhance safety, health, comfort, UX and human performance.
We are particularly interested in the following 4 research areas.
- Technology and healthy/safe aging (Focus: ICT/AI-based technologies and solutions for fall and injury prevention)
- HCI-VR/AR/HEI/HRI; Human factors in emerging technologies (Focus: Natural user interaction in VR/AR and Human-Exoskeleton/Robot Interaction)
- Human biomechanics, behavior and performance modeling (Focus: Data-driven and advanced modeling of human behavior and performance)
- Digital human modeling and ergonomic product design (Focus: Digital humans and fit/comfort of custom products)
